Get your team meetings working
If people frown at the mention of meetings in your business, it is time to make them more effective. Here are some suggestions:
1. Have regular team meetings at all levels in the business - not just the senior level. You may feel there is not much to talk about - but your team may think otherwise! Keep this channel open in good times and it will pay off when difficult issues need to be discussed.
It does not have to be in a formal setting, as long as it happens on a regular basis.
2. To give it structure, go from past events to future events and use opportunities to give praise along the way.
3. Finally, follow good meeting etiquette - keep to the allotted time and follow a set agenda. Agree action items and post minutes after the meeting, ideally within 24 hours.
If everyone in the business is given the opportunity to contribute in a structured, positive setting, communication and productivity will improve. It works!
